Nelson and Vikki Maya
United World Mission
Colombia
Vikki de los Santos Maya grew up in Modesto and at CrossPoint (then known as First Baptist Church). After serving on staff and completing her biblical studies she was sent out by First Baptist Church to serve in missions. She first served in Arequipa, Peru then God moved her on to Chile and then on to Costa Rica.
In Costa Rica she met and married Nelson Maya, from Colombia, South America. Nelson was serving as an assistant pastor/church planter in Colombia and later in Costa Rica where he completed his biblical studies at ESEPA Seminary. Nelson and Vikki now live in Barranquilla, Colombia and serve with United World Mission. Their vision is to reach and transform Colombian communities through Christian communities. Together they train church planters to begin these Christian communities where the Christian life is lived out and extended to others. They also train children's workers and youth workers to develop relationship-based ministries. Their teaching and training allows them to equip pastors, lay preachers and evangelists to study and preach/teach the Bible using the inductive Bible study method.
Vikki has developed Women Serving with Purpose, designed to train women leaders to develop relationship-based ministries for women that will reach women both in the church and outside the church walls, helping them to live out God's purposes for them.
Nelson and Vikki are convinced that it takes many Christian communities, in Colombia and in the United States, to reach and transform Colombian communities.
